Neurodiversity

What is neurodiversity?

Quite simply it means that our brains are all different. Neurodiversity refers to the natural variations in human brain function and behavioural traits, particularly in relation to sociability, learning, attention, mood, and other neurological strengths and challenges. The concept of neurodiversity recognises that neurological differences like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc. are simply part of the normal spectrum of human neurocognitive variation rather than something to be pathologized or viewed as disordered.

An estimated 15-20% of the population have a neurodiversity. Whilst we hear that word a lot now, it is a fairly new term in the world of mental health.

Providing professional training with CPD accredited certification is an excellent way to build expertise around neurodiversity among managers, HR professionals, and organisations. Having that formal training helps to overcome knowledge gaps and misconceptions. Too often workplaces bring in neurodivergent talent but fail to create an inclusive environment for them to truly succeed. Building that awareness and empathy is key for creating a culture of belonging for all neurological profiles. When coworkers and leadership make the effort to understand and include rather than stigmatise differences, it enriches the whole organisation. Providing structured education is vital for driving real cultural change around this important dimension of human diversity.
